Tan Sri Ismee bin Ismail (18750) as a Director of 1 Malaysia Development Berhad (“the Company”) had been suspended for three (3) years with immediate effect and ordered to pay a fine of RM5,000-00 and costs of RM94,221-00 by the Disciplinary Committee of the Institute on 11/7/2019 for failure to carry out his duties as a professional accountant with due care and diligence in respect of the financial statements for the financial years ended 31/3/2013 and 31/3/2014 of the Company, leading to the aforesaid financial statements which contained significant non-compliances with applicable accounting standards, thus not showing a true and fair view, being presented to the Board of the Company for its eventual approval.
Tan Leong Hin (13762) as a member of the Institute and as the sole proprietor of Messrs. Tan, Choong & Partners (‘the Firm’) had been reprimanded and ordered to pay a fine of RM4,000-00 and costs of RM3,500-00 by the Disciplinary Committee of the Institute on 16/7/2019 for he had intentionally refused to return the documents as requested by the Practice Review Department pursuant to the requirements of Section 550 of the By-Laws of the Institute and the Statement on Practice Review as described in Appendix VI of the Institute’s By-Laws despite a reminder being sent to him.
