Accounting considerations of the COVID-19 pandemic and economic recession

The new coronavirus started as an epidemic in China and evolved into a pandemic in March 2020.  A severe economic recession is expected to follow.  This course provides a quick overview of the accounting considerations needed for preparation of financial statements during and post pandemic and the consequential economic recession.  The topics to be covered include impairment of assets (PPE, inventories, etc.), impairment of financial assets (expected credit loss), government grants, onerous contract and other provisions, re-assessment and modification of lease contracts, fair value measurement, other accounting estimates and measurement uncertainties, as well as the issue of going concern.
