Muhammad Zulkhairi Tajuddin (15778) as the sole proprietor of M/S Khairi & Co (‘the Firm’) had been punished and imposed a fine of RM3,500-00 and costs of RM3,000-00 by the Disciplinary Committee of the Institute on 27/2/2020 for failure to do the following :-

  • Failed to provide audited accounts for Sigma Trade Resources Sdn Bhd for the Financial Year Ends 30/6/2010 to 30/6/2014, regardless of payment made to him for the services of the same;
  • Failed to show proof of receipt or acknowledgement from the IRBM that the audited accounts have been computed and submitted to the IRBM; and
  • Failed to submit the necessary documents for the purposes of yearly lodgement to SSM for the years 2009 to 2013.

Yong See Sing (15874) as the sole proprietor of M/S YSS & Partners (‘the Firm’) had been punished and imposed a fine of RM3,000-00, costs of RM2,000-00 and ordered to attend a course conducted by the Institute on Audit Quality Enhancement Programme by the Disciplinary Committee of the Institute on 17/3/2020 after the Firm had been rated as ‘unsatisfactory’ as indicated in the Monitoring Review Report dated 19/3/2019 which detailed the weaknesses in the audit work performed.

Dato’ Murugan Alimuthu (17572) as the sole proprietor of M/S M.A & Co. (‘the Firm’) had been punished and imposed a fine of RM3,000-00, costs of RM2,000-00 and ordered to attend a course conducted by the Institute on Audit Quality Enhancement Programme by the Disciplinary Committee of the Institute on 17/3/2020 after the Firm had been rated as ‘unsatisfactory’ as indicated in the Monitoring Review Report dated 30/1/2019 which detailed the weaknesses in the audit work performed.

Cheang Wai Choong (3980) as the sole proprietor of M/S CWC & Company (‘the Firm’) had been punished and imposed a fine of RM3,000-00, costs of RM2,000-00 and ordered to attend a course conducted by the Institute on Audit Quality Enhancement Programme by the Disciplinary Committee of the Institute on 17/3/2020 after the Firm had been rated as ‘unsatisfactory’ as indicated in the Monitoring Review Report dated 26/4/2019 which detailed the weaknesses in the audit work performed.

Poh Chin Chye (13194) as the sole proprietor of M/S CC Poh & Co. (‘the Firm’) had been punished and imposed a fine of RM3,000-00, costs of RM2,000-00 and ordered to attend a course conducted by the Institute on Audit Quality Enhancement Programme by the Disciplinary Committee of the Institute on 17/3/2020 after the Firm had been rated as ‘unsatisfactory’ as indicated in the Monitoring Review Report dated 28/12/2018 which detailed the weaknesses in the audit work performed.

Decision of the Disciplinary Committee of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (‘Institute’) against member pursuant to Rule 18(2) of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (Disciplinary) Rules 2002

Pursuant to Rule 18(2) of the MIA (Disciplinary) Rules 2002 the Disciplinary Committee of the Institute on 3/6/2020 after having conducted a due inquiry and satisfied that Barjoyai Bardai  (5024) had been fined RM100,000-00 before the Kuala Lumpur High Court for offences committed under the Securities Industry Act 1983, has ordered the member to be suspended for one (1) year effective 1/7/2020 and costs of RM2,000-00.
