Decisions of the Disciplinary Committee of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (‘Institute’) against members pursuant to Rule 18(1) of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (Disciplinary) Rules 2002

Tan Chin Huat (10081) as the managing partner of Weld Asia Associates (‘the Firm’) had been reprimanded and imposed a fine of RM5,000-00 and costs of RM3,000-00 by the Disciplinary Committee of the Institute on 15/4/2019 for committing an unprofessional conduct in view of being censured, fined and barred from being an associated person of a registered public accounting company by Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (“PCAOB”) of the United States vide an Offer of Settlement on 13 Dec 2017 after being found to have breached the applicable PCAOB rules and standards.

Tan Poh Ling (10559) as one of the partners of Weld Asia Associates (‘the Firm’) had been reprimanded and imposed a fine of RM5,000-00 and costs of RM3,000-00 by the Disciplinary Committee of the Institute on 15/4/2019 for committing an unprofessional conduct wherein she had been found guilty of breaching Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (“PCAOB”) rules and standards, resulting in a censure and  barred from being an associated person of a registered public accounting company by PCAOB on 13 Dec 2017.
