Teng Hoi Kwan (3870) as the sole proprietor of Messrs. Michael Teng (‘the Firm’) had been punished and imposed a fine of RM3,000-00 and costs of RM2,000-00 and ordered to attend a course conducted by the Institute on Audit Quality Enhancement Programme by the Disciplinary Committee of the Institute on 23/5/2019 after the Firm had been rated as ‘unsatisfactory’ as indicated in the Follow-up Review Report dated 5/6/2018 which detailed the weaknesses in the audit work performed.
Yap Lee Woon (18402) as the sole proprietor of YLW Management & Services (‘the Company’) had been punished and imposed a fine of RM2,000-00 and costs of RM2,000-00 by the Disciplinary Committee of the Institute on 23/5/2019 for committing unprofessional conduct where she had practiced as a member in public practise without a valid practising certificate issued by the Institute as a Chartered Accountant on 6/12/2017.
Ong Han Cheng (41996) as a Director of Bispoint Advisory Sdn. Bhd. (‘the Company’) had been punished and imposed a fine of RM2,000-00 and costs of RM2,000-00 by the Disciplinary Committee of the Institute on 23/5/2019 where he had practiced as a member in public practice services without a valid practicing certificate issued by the Institute from the date of his appointment as the Director of the Company on 27/12/2017 till 19/8/2018.
Choy Voon Wei (42188) as a Director of Bispoint Advisory Sdn. Bhd. (‘the Company’) had been punished and imposed a fine of RM2,000-00 and costs of RM2,000-00 by the Disciplinary Committee of the Institute on 23/5/2019 where he had practiced as a member in public practice services without a valid practicing certificate issued by the Institute from the date of his appointment as the Director of the Company on 27/12/2017 till 19/8/2018.
Ong Ban Hin (27507),
- as a director of U Business Consultancy Sdn. Bhd (‘the Company’) had been punished and imposed a fine of RM2,000-00 and costs of RM2,000-00 by the Disciplinary Committee of the Institute on 23/5/2019 for allowing another two persons to be partners in the Company to practise as Chartered Accountants without them being members of the Institute for the period between 1/12/2012 to 25/4/2018 ; and
- as a director of the Company had been punished and imposed a fine of RM2,000-00 by the Disciplinary Committee of the Institute on 23/5/2019 for advertising in JobStreet.com under the name of the Company to recruit Audit Manager/Senior personnel, which may lead the public at large to infer that he provides audit and tax services when in fact, he do not possess a valid audit and/or tax licence issued by the relevant authority under Section 263(1) of the Companies Act 2016 and Section 153 (1) of the Income Tax Act 1967 respectively.
Tan Swee Huat (6736) as a director of Crystal Guidance Sdn. Bhd. (‘the Company’) had been punished and imposed a fine of RM3,000-00 and costs of RM2,000-00 by the Disciplinary Committee of the Institute on 23/5/2019 for committing the following wrongdoings:
- from 15/12/2007 provided public practice services under the business entity of the Company without holding a valid practicing certificate (“PC”) issued by the Institute; and
- from 1/10/2013 allowed a person to be a partner to practice as a Chartered Accountant or Licensed Accountant with him, without her being a Chartered Accountant or Licensed Accountant.
Ramahamirtam Karupaiah (3504) had been suspended for six (6) months effective 15/5/2019 and ordered to pay costs of RM2,000-00 and ordered to attend 16 structured CPE credit hours of courses of instruction in addition to the requirement of 20 structured CPE credit hours per annum by 31/12/2019 by the Disciplinary Committee of the Institute on 23/4/2019 after she was found by the CPE Compliance Unit to have claimed for the Continuing Professional Education (‘CPE’) hours during six occasions namely the courses on 5/6/2017, 7/6/2017, 8/6/2017, 20/6/2017, 11/7/2017 and 20/7/2017 without attending the said CPE courses and that she has unlawfully assigned her staff and another person to attend the said courses in her name.
